Malcom of Georgia and Associated Lines

I fought in the Battle of Guilford Courthouse in North Carolina. In about 1789 I moved to Georgia with my family, first settling in Wilkes County, before moving on to Morgan and then Walton County.
My name was James Malcom.

Some Associated Lines of Georgia and Virginia

Jayne Malcom has released her 2nd edition of Beginnings, a wonderful research tool for the Malcom lines. Read more about her book here.

  • The Gannaway Genealogy -- this website appears to be defunct --
For those interested in the deep Gannaway genealogy, my own research carried me first in about 1998 to Ancestry WorldTree gedcom file F3686 which had many interesting notes. This file appears to have vanished from WorldTree. However, in year 2000 I traced those notes to the book "Family Trails across America" (1933), Hamilton Higday, compiler. Higday freely uses the work of William Shepard of Virginia and Katherine Adams of Chicago, and includes Shepard's transcriptions of papers in a private collection. But more recently, Tom Valentine's work in the Virginia records has uncovered many, many problems in Higday's information, so although I still recommend the Higday book to those interested in this research, I more strongly recommend Valentine's work.
