The above document has for years been the single most crucial document in my Hawk research. It provides the unifying structure to many otherwise separate elements, but all of which in turn reinforce the central accuracy of the record. As such, because of this very accuracy, Christina's surname has been a thorn in our side for many years. DNA evidence has finally provided the bridge that we needed. Her last name is Hinterleiter, not Indelida, and she was indeed from Pennsylvania. Grandfather Andrew was also in fact from Pennsylvania, as well as being one of the first settlers of Augusta, Georgia.

History and Biographies

Lineages

  • Andrew Hawk 1784 Augusta, Ga.
I gratefully acknowledge the work of Bert Hawk of Flowery Branch, Georgia, for his 18 years of diligence in piecing together the story of the Hawk and Malcom lines from which we descend.
  • William H. Hawk and Martha Martin from Jasper County

Note, this William H. Hawk/Martha Martin line leads to the line of James Madison Hawk of Marshall County, Alabama We're not sure exactly how how William H. Hawk and Martha A. Martin tie into the Jasper County Hawks. Our primary proofs are photocopies from an old Hawk bible in possession of Willard Butler Hawk of Marshall County, Alabama, and the Jasper County marriage record of William Hawk and Martha Martin. The lineage information and source documents are courtesy Julia Hawk Raines. See my Alabama page for details.

Andrew Hawke was "near Augusta" as of 4 Nov 1789.
